Course Introduction
This project involves first, site selection at Mount Davis based on analytics tool (e.g. ladybug); second, optimization of site with a pavilion design that incorporates the use of visual programming tools; third, production of fabrication details and design efficiency analysis.
Project 1 - Terrain Data Analysis
The aim for this exercise is to retrieve online information using GIS tools, grasshopper, Rhinoceros etc. to generate a terrain model for geometrical and environmental analysis. A short summary is then provided to indicate my design site preference for the next projects.
Project 2 - Design Intervention
Based on the theme "Enjoy the Landscape", I'm encouraged to design a pavilion within maximum and
minimum site occupancy of 30-60 sq.m. The Intervention location must be justified based on analysis such as sun study/ shading/ terrain geometry/ accessibility/ opportunities. Then, the intervention has to be documented using a combination of tools such as Rhinoceros, Grasshopper and Archicad.
Project 3 - Detailing and Fabrication
To further develop the project design proposal for Project 2. Students are required to develop their design by finding relevant references for the Design and Construction system proposed for Project 2; Providing construction sketches; Refine the design proposal to a more practical level; Generating a set of media material that describes and communicate the design intervention by Twinmotion.
